Pisces cell salt
Ferrum Phosphoricum: Grounding spirit into the body
♓ The Pisces Cell Salt
Ferrum Phosphoricum: Grounding spirit into the body
(February 19 – March 20)
The Pisces cell salt was difficult to synthesize on the biochemical and spiritual levels, which really isn’t a surprise because Piscean energy is involved. Pisces is known for being fluid, mutable, for illuminating indirectly and relying on intuition rather than intellect.
Pisces caps the zodiac wheel. We’re at the end of a cycle - in that liminal space between sacred death and rebirth. Last year in the US, we entered lockdown at this time. Interestingly, the word “March” comes from the Latin Margo, meaning border, edge, limit, confine. As we were driven inward, feelings of confusion, frustration, and grief surfaced. And all we could do was stay afloat in that space.
Blood is sacred water flowing through our bodies, the temples of our souls. In order to have healthy blood that nourishes our tissues, we need oxygen. Ferrum Phos, or iron, is the inorganic salt needed to attract oxygen into the lungs and then help deliver that oxygen to your tissues.
This cell salt is composed of 2 basic elements, iron and phosphorous, which are both used as homeopathic remedies. In potentized form, these two remedies are both connected with the blood. It makes sense then that the cell salt has an affinity with blood, specifically iron-deficient blood (anemia), inflammation, circulatory issues, and the tendency to bleed (hemorrhages, nose bleeds, etc.).
Dr. George Carey, the author of The Biochemic System of Medicine, said: “Ferrum Phos colors the blood corpuscles red, carries oxygen to all parts of the body, and thus furnishes the vital force that sustains all life. Without a proper balance of iron in the blood, health cannot be maintained. When a deficiency in this cell salt occurs, the circulation is increased, for the blood tries to carry enough oxygen to all the tissues of the body with the limited amount of iron at hand and in order to do so must move rapidly.”
Our red blood cells are like Piscean fish swimming in the bloodstream. They carry hemoglobin, an iron-containing protein, that transports oxygen (divine breath) and allows us to have the energy to live an inspired life. If you’re deficient in iron, your body won't be able to make enough red blood cells to oxygenate your tissues and your red blood cells (or fish) may be abnormal looking or misshapen.
Iron-deficient blood, or anemia, can make you feel lightheaded, dizzy, weak, out of breath, and run down. Know that it can be severe and indicate other dis-ease processes, so you should always work with your doctor. In mild cases, you may be able to take this cell salt in order to deliver molecule-size iron to your body that is easily absorbed in addition to eating iron-rich foods. In cases where supplementation is required, the cell salt can complement the action.
This cell salt is like the perfect balance between highly diluted and potentized homeopathic remedies and supplements made from material doses. Cell salts aim to deliver these essential minerals in the trace amounts that the body uses and speaks to your cells at their level.
Ferrum Phos is also used at the beginning phases of fever or illness. You might notice a child’s face, ears, or throat becoming red with a low-grade fever. These Ferrum Phos fevers are not very dramatic and there aren’t really any notable symptoms. Instead, like the Pisces energy, these fevers are kind of hard to put your finger on. Clearly, something is happening beneath the surface to cause a fever, and the answer isn’t clear yet but there’s no cause for alarm. The body will likely handle it well on its own. We can give Ferrum Phos as a preventative to make sure the illness doesn’t progress deeply or last longer than necessary.
The first stages of inflammation can also benefit from Ferrum Phos. Inflammation is part of the body’s defense mechanism and plays a role in the healing process. Generally, when the body detects an irritant, pathogen, or foreign body, it responds by trying to remove it. Acute symptoms include redness, heat, swelling, and pain.
Astrologically, Pisces is connected with the feet. As the last sign in the zodiac, the feet are the foundation on which the entire body rests. The sole is moved by the soul. Pisces energy drives us upward and inward so that we move through life in alignment with our soul purpose. This is the image of the zodiac symbol of the two fish swimming in opposite directions but connected by an energetic cord so that they don’t lose each other. So we have the heavenly fish (spirit, inspired breath, oxygen) binding to the earthly fish (the iron-containing red blood cells) through the energetic cord (the blood vessels), ensuring a dynamic and healthy life force.
For Pisces, the zodiac sign that is so dreamy that it practically levitates, walking barefoot and grounding are important activities. Just as Ferrum Phos attracts and helps circulate oxygen throughout the body all the way down to our toes, grounding is another way to make sure that we are fully incarnated and staying tethered to the earth.
